The Clyde River runs through the heart of Batemans Bay and out to the sandy beach, making it a popular destination for estuary fishing, sailing, swimming, surfing, cruising, kayaking, body boarding and even beach cricket. Batemans Bay is home to the famous Clyde River oyster and at many of the local waterside restaurants fresh seafood features prominently. Every spring, from September to November, whales pass by Batemans Bay on their journey south. Apart from boat tours there are many land based vantage points with excellent uninterrupted whale watching, including South Head just south of Batemans Bay. There is a wide choice of accommodation in Batemans Bay from hotels, motels, units, tourist parks and self-contained apartments.
